Once in a while, something happens that restores my faith in the students here.
Stop calling an unwanted fetus “innocent,” when it is infringing on another person’s right to their body. Take your emotionally manipulative language and shove it up your ass.
Here’s a model, for reference.
A few years ago a Queensland man was convicted of an abortion because he kicked his pregnant ex girlfriend in the stomach causing her to abort. If abortion were no longer a crime how would you view this? A charge of common assault would have resulted in a much more minor sentence.
There are several elements to these types of events:
- Pro-choicers, as you should know, are against forcing someone to remain pregnant. But we are also against forced abortion. The pregnancies in these cases are generally wanted by the pregnant person. By kicking her in the stomach, that man caused something that his girlfriend never wanted.
- There are several studies that show that homicide is one of the top causes of death for pregnant people. Also, abusive behavior by the non-pregnant person can sometimes be brought out or heightened when a partner becomes pregnant. By making these penalties worse, it can be hoped that less of these things occur. It’s not always about the fetus.
- Not all places enforce this policy (such as the Unborn Victims of Violence Act). And with the ones that do, it usually only matters when the fetus is considered viable.
Whenever pro-aborts tell you abortion pictures are fake, just remember… they never show you “real” pictures of aborted fetuses.
They’ll show tissue.
Just not the identifiable parts.
No one is entitled to someone else’s medical photos. Furthermore, photos like that can be triggering. Surprise! Pro-choice people actually give a shit about the born, sentient people who have to see photos.
Besides that, anti-choicers are really good at showing photos of miscarriages and still births, and when you aren’t showing those, you’re displaying photos of cats.
Lastly, we don’t need to show photos of standard medical procedures, because we can rely on scientific fact and not emotional manipulation.
After seeing numerous anti-choicers trying to pass off photos of animal fetuses as human ones, I felt inspired.
This is an *insert random number here* week old pre-born baby. How could you look at this and say it’s not human?
If you apply bodily autonomy to pregnant women then you must apply it consistently to all people. You use your body for everything you do. If you choose not to feed your toddler because doing so contradicts your body's will to rest, then it should be permissible to deny your toddler of food. No one can argue that complete body autonomy is right. You can not always do as you want.
I do apply it consistently.
And if you’re too fatigued to get your toddler food, someone else has the ability to do it, unlike with a pregnancy. It isn’t inside your body, solely relying on your organs.
"I put my dog down. His quality of life just wasn’t very good, but he’s in a better place now."
Aww, good for you. Yes, he is in a much better place.
"I had an abortion because I can’t afford to take care of a child right now. I’m just not ready to be a mother yet. It was the best decision for both of us."
You’re an abomination. How could you do that? It was alive. It had feelings.
Oh, you're actually trying to be funny? Couldn't tell.
I’m too punk rock to deal with this shit.
Abortion is illegal in Ireland. The sentence for obtaining an abortion here is 14 years in prison.
Say you’re a woman in Ireland and you get raped. Your rapist gets caught, but you are left pregnant as a result. You obtain an abortion pill online and use it. You are then caught. You will spend 14 years in prison.
The average rape sentence here is 5-7 years. You will spend twice as long in jail as your rapist.
I couldn’t find the source for the abortion sentence. Could someone link me to it?
Found it. It’s under the 2013 “Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act.” It says 14 years is the maximum. Interesting.
